Here we go...

Absolutely no idea if I packed everything I need, but that's it. Heading off to Namibia tomorrow before the long trek to the start point on the far side of the Namib desert, the oldest desert on the planet (over 55 million years), with the biggest dunes on the planet (up to 300m tall), one of the driest places on Earth, with less than 2mm of rain per year.
I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to post, because there's zero mobile phone coverage, but one or two places where I'm hoping to connect. I have a beacon, so should have tracking when it goes live, plus has the ability to send short messages and an SOS if it all goes horribly wrong!
Please help make it all worthwhile by donating at https://www.justgiving.com/page/namib-400 and please share with your friends.

Worst thing about these adventures is leaving Stella (and Jill), but I don't suppose it bothers her that much - she still gets nice walks and gets to be more "guardy" than normal. That's Stella, not Jill...
Hoping to help Amicii Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation UK to give more fluffy Shepherd dogs a home. Everybody deserves tumblefur...
Made it through to departures eventually. Travelling with a huge box is a real pain! Just waiting for flight to Frankfurt, then Johannesburg and finally Walvis Bay. I'm getting too old for this nonsense!

Less than one week to go...

In less than one week I'll be embarking on most probably the hardest bike ride I've ever undertaken... I strung together some footage from Google Earth and Street view to try and portray the nature of this ride. While I was pulling this together I started to think more and more "What the heck am I doing this madness for?" The answer is simple. I'm just trying to help Amicii Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation UK. Simple as.

If you can't donate, please share...
