I was on route 5, the old road to Budapest. Traffic wasn't bad until Kecskemet, but just got worse and worse with so many huge trucks. At one point I had two 22 Wheelers pass me on a slip road to the right and another couple to the left. At that point I had enough and turned off at Dabas to take the back roads.
Blow me, a mile down the road I saw a stray dog. Of course I stopped and gave him (I don't know, it might not been a her) half a packet of biscuits and some water. He/she was so friendly, poor thing. Ann Pursey found a local rescue nearby, who I called, but their van was in Budapest with another dog. They suggested another rescue, but they didn't answer 😕
I spoke to a lady in a car. She said "it's a farm dog, I see it here all the time". If that's the case, they don't deserve it.
I had to leave him/her there. If I had a car... 😔
Late then, riding in to Budapest in the dark. Eventually I got to the EuroVelo route 6, which I hope to follow now for quite a while. I'm hoping it will be more enjoyable, because the last couple of days have been anything but.
